XMAS BOUTIQUE AT THE MUSEUM!!!

The LHS had another successful weekend, this year at the Wayne County Museum!! Selling of our gift shoppe items, both Lyons and Peppermint, brought in almost $500!!!!!!!! AND, thank you to all who volunteered to help!! (Stu and Anne, Pat Gorthy, Kay Michielsen, Mark DeCracker, Priscilla Paliotti, Carol Bailey and Ray, and our student helper, Will Pulver) We were invited there again next year, too!! We sold out of many items and the Blackwell notecards are very popular, so much so, I can't keep up with them!! However, if you still need a stocking stuffer, we do have some Peppermint soap(bars and liquid), soap gift baskets, canal books(children's) very popular!, Peppermint bark(homemade) and one Peppermint Pig left!! I can still take orders for the Blackwell notecards and we also have canal notecards. Just give me a call: 946-4596, thanks!!   Patty Alena

VICTORIAN TRADITION REVISITED

The Lyons Heritage Society is presenting the "Peppermint Pig"!!! It is a delightful, unique gift for the whole family!! The Peppermint Pig "TAIL" goes like this:

The Peppermint Pig was cast of hard candy similar in fashion to a candy cane and festive pink in colour. They proudly stood for an old-fashioned Yuletide itself. Ater holiday dinner, the Pig was passed amongst those gathered, each in turn giving the pouch it was put in, a firm tap and sharing a tale of the past year's good fortune. The delicious broken peppermint and warm memories were enjoyed by all in hopes of prosperity for the coming year.

Saratoga Sweets Candy Company in Saratoga Springs, New York revived the timeless traditon by recreating the Peppermint Pig. The Pig is sold separately or can be purchased with a red velvet pouch and gold hammer to carry out the "tapping" tradition after dinner. These pigs along with Pigsy Dust(to flavor almost anything with peppermint) can be purchased at the Lyons Heritage Society Booth on December 4 and 5, at the Wayne County Historical Society's Christmas Boutique. A UNIQUE gift that will thrill both children and adults!

The Lyons Heritage Society will also feature: Dottie Blackwell notecards, peppermint candles, peppermint cookies, peppermint oil, and gourmet peppermints along with other unique gifts or stocking stuffers!!
